DJ Surface is a powerful, lightweight, audio mixing application for the Windows platform. DJ Surface faithfully reproduces the mixing process used by DJ's all over the world. ♦ At the heart of DJ Surface is an efficient audio processing engine. It has been built with performance in mind. We have kept the user interface as simple as possible so that we do not distract from the audio processing. ♦ DJ Surface is a .net 2.0 application. You will need a minimum of .net 2.0 installed on your computer in order to run DJ Durface. This is quite standard with Windows XP and Vista. ♦ DJ Surface requires DirectX 3 or above for output, and takes advantage of DirectSound and DirectSound3D hardware accelerated drivers, when available. ♦ When recording, Windows Media codecs are required to be installed. These are supplied with the Windows Media Player. ♦ As already mentioned, at the heart of DJ Surface is an efficient audio processing engine. This reduces the need for a high specification computer to run the application. However, we recommend a minimum of a Core Duo processor be used with a minimum of 1 GB of memory. The more powerful the computer, the easier the computer will be able to perform the audio processing and mixing. ♦ In order to use DJ Surface as it is intended, you will need to have a multi channel soundcard within your system, either internally or externally, perhaps via USB. ♦ A multi channel soundcard has different outputs for different pairs of speakers. This allows you to send the main mix to a single pair of speakers, whilst at the same time it will allow you to monitor other tracks not yet in the mix, tracks you are currently beat mixing into the main mix, via a pair of headphones. A DJ's trademark. ♦ A multi channel soundcard provides quadraphonic, 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound. ♦ Please refer to the multi channel soundcard section for more information on the use of a multi channel soundcard within DJ Surface.
