Requirements Trial limitations Multi channel soundcard Settings
Track selection Cueing Monitoring ♦ Beat matching
EQ Manual / Cross fading Recording Mix safety

♦ When mixing 2 tracks together you might be listening to deck 1 on your main mix speakers, and matching the beats of deck 2 to the beats of deck 1 . Deck 2 will be listened to on the monitor channel using headphones. Only you can hear deck 2 whilst you are matching the beats.

♦ There are 3 areas of the deck you will need to use in order to match the beats. The speed slider and buttons, the BPM assistant and the fingertip controls.

♦ Firstly, you set the speed using the speed control. You can change the overall speed of the track using the slider or buttons. The buttons give you a one click way to adjust the speed.

♦ Secondly, the BPM assistant can be used to listen to a track that is currently in the mix. When finished listening for a few seconds, the BPM assist button stops flashing and sets the BPM of the current deck to approximately the BPM of the deck in the mix.

♦ Thirdly, you need to use the fingertip control buttons to give you control of the track. The fingertip control buttons allow you to slow down or speed up the track very slightly from its current position so you can align the beats in real time.

♦ Always start from the beginning of a 4 beat bar, fire the cue, adjust the position of the track you are monitoring using the fingertip control buttons. If the beats in the main mix speakers are not matching those in the monitor headphones, adjust the speed and/or the track position accordingly. You keep repeating this process until the beats are matched, fine tuning the mix until you are happy. When you are ready to mix the tracks together in the main mix for everyone to hear, fire the cue again, bring the tracks together using the fingertip controls, and either manually mix the tracks together using the mix faders or use the cross fader.
