♦ To load a track into a deck, you must first click "New Deck" on the uppermost DJ Surface menu.
♦ To select a track, click the yellow "Select Track" button.
♦ When the track selection window opens, locate and select the track you want to hear.
♦ The track will load into the deck and start playing on the monitor channel. If you have set up DJ Surface correctly, the monitor output channels on your multi channel soundcard, which defaults to channels 3 & 4 or 'rear' in surround sound terms, should now be playing the track. You should be hearing the track in your headphones.
♦ To hear the track on your main mix speakers, the main mix speakers default to channels 1 & 2, or the 'front' speakers in surround sound terms, you click the "mix" button and lift the main mix fader.
♦ The idea is that the monitor output and main mix output, for this deck, are perfectly in time. When you create another New Deck, you will also be able to hear that deck in both the monitor and in the main mix. You will have 2 decks.
♦ Obviously, when DJing, one deck is in the main mix, the other deck is being monitored. You listen to the deck being monitored with your headphones. When the beats of the monitored deck are matched with the beats of the main mix deck, using speed and fingertip controls, you can fade the monitored deck into the main mix and bring the other deck out of the main mix at a suitable time. This creates the mix that people in the room can hear.
♦ You don't need a new deck everytime you wish to load a new track, once a deck is open you can keep loading new tracks into it ,however, you need to bring the old deck out of the main mix completely before you can load a new track into it.
